South West Garo Hills District : Headquarter - Ampati
South West Garo Hills came into existence as a district of the state of Meghalaya on 7th August 2012. It is the smallest district of Meghalaya with just 822 Sq. kms.
The District is bounded by Assam and West Garo Hills District on the North, Bangladesh on the South, West Garo Hills District on the East, and Assam and Bangladesh on the West. The District has approximately 35 kilometers of international boundary with Bangladesh on the south and western side. Nearly one third of the total number of villages of the sub-division is declared as border villages by the Border Area Development Department.
The District headquarter is located at Ampati.
